About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an energetic, team oriented and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Electrical - Mechanical Technician at our Halifax manufacturing facility.
What you will do:
In compliance with Company policies and procedures, installs and troubleshoots electrical wiring, electronic components, hardware and equipment and industrial automation systems. This position requires shift work.
Troubleshoot and maintain production equipment, which includes electrical, hydraulic, mechanic and pneumatic systems.
Repair and replace electric and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, any kind of switches, motor controls, etc.
Run new power supply lines to new and/or relocated equipment according to CEC and other applicable standards and regulations.
Wire new control panels according to drawings and verbal instructions under consideration of CEC and other applicable standards and regulations.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production and production supporting equipment.
Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles and installs conduits and other electrical conductor enclosures.
Splices and terminates electrical conductors, tests electrical and electronic equipment for proper function.
Respond to mechanical breakdowns and ensure proper function on completion.
Troubleshooting of machines – diagnose ongoing problems; assess and repair breakdowns.
Make parts on shop equipment.
Preventative maintenance according to schedule.
Ability to modify equipment operation, parts and techniques, in order to improve efficiency.
Ability to complete rebuilds on all equipment to manufacturer’s specs.
Machine installation and/or moves as required including initial set-up.
Ensure that all business activities are performed with highest ethical standards and in compliance with our code of business conduct.
Adhere to all health and safety rules, Acts and Regulations.
What you have to offer:
Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician or Electro-Mechanical Technician
Valid Millwright licence and /or equivalent work experience
Minimum 3 – 5 years working experience
Experience in a manufacturing / production environment
Excellent knowledge of machines and their capacity
Operation of precision machine shop equipment (lathe & milling)
Knowledge of PLC/HMI an asset
Gas and arc welding certification an asset
Able to work 12 hour (rotating evenings), with on-call opportunities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong teamwork and communications skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and priority driven with the ability to proceed without supervision
Demonstrated computer skills experience (MS Office, Email, and variety of in-house system types)
