Kinbridge Community Association is a community based organization that works to build capacity in the people we serve. As a grass roots organization we strive to develop and run programs that serve the needs of our community as identified by our community.

The Kinbridge Community Association Youth Instructor will have the opportunity to facilitate and lead a variety of structured and unstructured programs for youth ages 10 to 18. The program offers participants a place to hang out, socialize, play games/sports, access computers and internet, organize special events, assist one another with homework, and attend structured and unstructured activities. The successful Youth Instructor could co-facilitate any of the above noted programs in an interactive and engaging way.

Job Description:

  • Must be HIGH FIVE trained in either Principles of Healthy Child or Sport
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of programs in accordance with all Centre policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Plan, develop, and implement activities each evening, based upon the program plans and youth input
  • Provide leadership and supervision to program participants and volunteers
  • Ensure proper set-up and clean-up is completed
  • Attending all scheduled events and offsite trips
  • Distribute and collect program evaluations prior to program end date
  • Report on a minimum weekly basis to direct supervisor
  • Maintain proper and accurate administrative records
  • Attend and actively participate in all training/orientations, staff meetings, and special events
  • Survey and connect with participants regularly about activities of interest to them
  • Must express caring attitude when working with youth
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of this position include:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Leadership skills and the ability to take initiative within a group setting, actively engaged with participants
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team
  • Reliable, and flexible in working hours
  • Strong Communication and organizational skills required
  • Interest and experience working with youth
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certificate or willing to obtain
  • Knowledge of the various aspects of child development
  • Provision of current, acceptable police record check (if over 18 years of age)

Program Information:

Times: Mon. to Fri. 2:45pm to 5:15pm; 6:15pm to 8:30pm

Program Dependent; Occasional Saturdays & Sundays

Locations: Various Locations in Neighborhood

Start & End Dates: September 2018 to June 2019
