The Senior Manager, Finance Data Governance, has a three-part role:

Managing the day to day operations of the Finance Data Governance team, inclusive of driving the on-the-ground adoption of the Enterprise Data Governance Operating Model and agenda and chairing the Finance Data Community,
Overseeing the build and implementation of the master data business rules to support the introduction of SAP S/4 HANA (a multi-year initiative to replace all major ledgers in BMO), and
Overseeing the integration of technology projects requiring Finance master and reference data into the centralized data model

Working closely with Finance, Technology and Operations, the Senior Manager will produce analysis to prove the rules deliver consistent and accurate results. The role assists in project planning and participates in testing for new source system feeds and data technology releases to ensure features and functions are acceptable and integrated across systems software and platforms. Proactive investigating/troubleshooting problems and directing corrective action is a key value contribution of this role.

Key Accountabilities

Manage the onboarding and maintenance of master / reference data and business rules in MDM CE (book of record for Finance Master and Reference data)
Identify opportunities for simplification and streamlining. Determine rule testing plans and formulate default conditions for exceptions.
Review the detailed requirement specification documents created to date and provide a quality assessment review. Determine data transformation and detailed data lineage considerations in the development of business rules.
Maintain the rules and ensure alignment to strong data change management practices

Develop, advise, implement end-to-end Change Management strategies and plans for each subsequent ledger converted to S4.

Be a key business leader for data projects
Effectively communicates analyses and findings, leverage visualization tools to create powerful and simple presentation of results.

Influence implementation roadmaps through data analytics

For any noted gaps, document and prepare the requirements. Manage the requirements change process in conjunction with the project manager.
Provide development support for development teams including advising on unit test cases, integration test cases, and user acceptance test cases

Drive master data architecture normalization
Ensure alignment of data projects to the standard data architecture for Finance master and reference data

Manage master data architecture standardization within the Finance data domain

Manage the development and delivery of solution design in MDM CE and Hadoop/HIVE

Qualifications

Knowledge
Advanced expertise in business rules development; including the application of data governance frameworks and theory.
Finance and accounting principles including journal entry processing and basic financial statement presentation.
Experience with command-line scripting, data structures and algorithms and ability to work in a SQL Server environment, processing large amounts of data
Working knowledge of financial transaction processes, and understanding of financial institutions business groups and its functions
Minimum 8 years of experience with relevant work experience, preferably in a financial institution including deep knowledge of banking groups and its operations.

Exhibits proficient knowledge of business standards and operational processes.
