Why this role is important?
Reporting directly to the Director, Business Development, the incumbent is responsible for building predictive models and providing insights on Wellwise by Shoppers Drug Mart key performance indicators and leading the financial planning processes for the division. The ideal candidate is someone with an analytical mindset and a proven ability to quickly grasp unstructured situations, drive insights from both the quantitative and qualitative information available, and present results and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
What You'll Do:
Lead the financial planning processes for Wellwise by Shoppers Drug Mart – including week and period forecasts and analysis of actual results
Lead and play a major role in monitoring weekly performance and measuring key drivers (e.g., sales, promotional activities, customer trends, etc.)
Provide insights and recommendations on the impact to the business of mass and targeted promotions, business changes, new business opportunities through analysis and modeling
Support the financial planning processes for Wellwise – annual and multiyear plans, socialization with Finance and leadership teams, etc.
Synthesize large amounts of complex data from multiple sources, extrapolate appropriate information and develop concise and easy to understand explanations of business results, opportunities and recommendations for senior level stakeholders
Lead and develop complex models to assess Wellwise by Shoppers Drug Mart performance, promotional, customer and category trends and market share and to assist in strategic business decision making
Collaborates closely with internal departments and subject matter experts to proactively identify & resolve issues, identify opportunities and process improvements
What You'll Need:
Strong analytical skills - the ability to leverage data, experience and industry knowledge to provide actionable insights and recommendations, as well as to identify financial/business implications to senior management
Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
High level of initiative to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
Advanced computer skills to produce reports, documents and presentations, as required:
Expert knowledge MS Office software (including Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of relevant database and Business Intelligence software applications (including MS Access, SQL and Microstrategy), programming experience (e.g., VBA macro), and/or experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, etc.) would be an asset
Ability to set and prioritize work amid competing demands
Ability to work with diverse personalities and styles
Greater than five years of business analysis or planning experience, ideally in the retail industry
Post secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or similar
