The Position

Are you an individual who has interest in creating a closer connection between care and other departments to promote professional collaboration and to expand the concept of holistic care? Working with the wellness team, the Resident Care Manager promotes innovative treatment approaches and their application.

You are responsible to ensure the well being of residents through the planning and delivery of high quality care services in a manner that is consistent with the policies, procedures and philosophy of United Active Living.

This temporary position provides leadership and guidance to the community, and ensures a high standard of resident care by acting as a clinical resource for staff, supporting staff training and development, and providing leadership and support to the interdisciplinary team. You consult, confer and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in resident and family centered care, education and research.


  • Resident assessment and care planning, for both existing and potential residents, using a collaborative approach with all stakeholders.
  • Coordination and liaison with team members to support the achievement of resident goals.
  • Direction and supervision of care delivery, including appropriate documentation.
  • Recruit, manage, and schedule qualified department staff to ensure care needs are met.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of health, wellness and care education to all community members (staff, residents and community at-large).
  • Collaboration with community teams to ensure community goals and all applicable legislation and standards are met.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget.


  • Must hold a current license with the Registered Nurses of Alberta.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related health or community service field.
  • Previous experience working with seniors and people with dementia.
  • Broad clinical experience combined with case management in a community setting is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in the areas of Gerontology or Geriatric Nursing preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and software.
