Currently Bruce Power has opportunities for a Cost and Scheduling Technician. The Cost and Scheduling Technician plays a critical part in the preparation of schedules and cost reports, supporting operating, engineering, outage and project work. This position will develop accurate project schedules and reports in a timely and efficient manner.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
Develop schedules and cost reports in support of operating, engineering, outage and project work
Monitor and update schedules as required
Respond to work requests and maintain records using appropriate tracking systems
What are the specific responsibilities?
Monitor progress of schedules and work programs by reviewing logs, work reports, work requests and cost / resource reports
Participate in the preparation of cost and schedule estimates for identified projects. Develop estimates and schedules using computerized models
Process work requests and assign schedule priorities based on established criteria or specific direction
Prepare and maintain records to monitor and report on various aspects of station performance and review status of work requests on an ongoing basis
Prepare status reports and complete outstanding work packages, using computerized or manual systems
Recommend and implement improvements to department information/work management systems
Prepare/revise procedures and reports relating to project management and planning system manuals
Prepare for, facilitate, and participate in routine meetings such as operational, project, safety and outage/online planning meetings. Discuss work and deliver effective schedules and cost estimates, work to resolve problems.
Perform other duties as required
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of technical subjects (electricity, mechanics, instrumentation, heat and thermodynamics, drafting) at a level sufficient to understand rates and operating work methods, procedures, materials and equipment, and as a base for comprehending technical and planning (estimating, scheduling) subjects
Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, including technical report writing
Demonstrated proficiency in Primavera version 6 (P6), Passport, Cognos, and Excel is required
Demonstrated ability to think logically to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet the objectives of the section/unit and the needs of the clients
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to achieve mutually agreeable service arrangements
Education and Experience
Completion of a Grade 12 education and intermediate related courses of a technical nature
A period of 4-6 years in a similar role is considered necessary to gain this experience
Demonstrated experience in a technical, trade or operating setting, to understand the business systems, operating practices, maintenance and modification procedures, and an appreciation of equipment and tool characteristics
Understanding of Bruce Power work management costing and scheduling techniques and processes, as well as assembly, analysis and presentation of data covering both technical and administrative services
Experience with conventional and radiological safety procedures, equipment, material and labour requirements associated with maintenance, modification and outage programs
