Your Opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Unit Manager of Registration and Patient Information, this Administrative Support III – Registration position performs a variety of clerical duties related to interviewing patients/parents to obtain correct demographic information, entering information on the Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) computer system, completing registrations and admissions. The Administrative Support III position serves as a point of initial contact for persons seeking treatment at or admission to a hospital/health care facility through any of the Main, Emergency, Urgent Care Centre or satellite Registration areas. The position collects hospital/facility fees for uninsured and out of country services. This position will provide training and mentoring to new hires and existing staff on policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with co-workers, Physician, Nurses, other medical staff, patients and families. Other duties as determined and include answering telephones, greeting the public, and directing individuals accordingly.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Medical Terminology Certificate required. MOA/Unit Clerk Course Certificate and/or Post-Secondary education applicable to the position. Minimum of 1 year Hospital experience. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills of 40-50 wpm required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Admitting/Registration experience preferred. Lead Clerk training/skills an asset. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Maintains a professional image and demonstrated ability to remain calm, courteous, sensitive and tactful. Demonstrated proficiency of Clinibase, Netcare. Person Directory and EMPI. Demonstrated ability to work well under stress. Skilled at paying close attention to detail.
