Community Futures Lloydminster and Region is looking for a General Manager. Community Futures Lloydminster and Region is part of a network of hundreds of Community Futures organizations across Canada which provide loans and training to entrepreneurs and small businesses with the goal of economic development in areas outside of large cities. The Community Futures program has been active in Canada for more than 30 years and funding is primarily provided by the federal government.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the operations of this non-profit organization including managing a small staff team, overseeing small business loans and training, marketing the services of the organization, collaborating with community partners, managing and reporting on finances, and working with the Board to implement strategic directions.

The ideal candidate will have a related degree such as business administration along with at least 5 years experience in small business lending, community economic development, and/or small business development. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Key competencies include small business lending, management and leadership, financial management and budgeting, Board relations, collaboration skills, marketing, training/presentation skills, and a deep understanding of small business and entrepreneurship – especially the challenges faced by business start-ups in rural areas. We are looking for an ethical person with excellent management skills and a good understanding of the economy of northern Alberta and Saskatchewan, who can provide strategic leadership for Community Futures Lloydminster and Region. The candidate must be well organized and understand the importance of meeting deadlines for reporting and planning. The candidate also requires strong communication skills for liaising with the Board of Directors, funding agencies, partners and staff.

This position is located in Lloydminster, Alberta with a regional coverage area that includes the County of Vermilion River to the West, Onion Lake Cree Nation to the North, villages and hamlets south to Highway 14 and East past Highway 21 to the boarder of the RM of Frenchman Butte on the Saskatchewan side.
