LEGAL ASSISTANT, CORPORATE SERVICES

Job Summary

The successful candidate will independently manage the daily activities of 3 corporate law clerks in the Corporate Services group. The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work.

Hours of work are from 9 am to 5 pm. Occasional pre-authorized overtime may be required to meet client needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Handling all administrative duties such as drafting letters, filing, printing and scanning, coordinate meetings and book boardrooms, etc.
  • Preparing and maintaining a bring-forward system, as well as provide appropriate reminders.
  • Under legal professional supervision, prepare initial drafts of routine documents based on precedents, revisions, comparisons, track changes and database entry.
  • Ensure all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis.
  • Delegating tasks to, and coordinating with, other administrative departments.
  • Providing backup coverage in the absence of other assistants.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk course.
  • 1-2 years’ working experience (large firm experience preferred).
  • In-depth understanding of business and legal terminology.
  • Strong technical skills using MS Office 2010
  • Experience working with 3E, Worksite DMS.

Supervision**

This role has a dual reporting relationship with the legal professionals in the share and the Supervisor, Legal Assistant Services.
