Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Restorative Care/Rehabilitation/Outpatient Orthopedic Clinics and to the Manager of Nutrition and Food Services, the Dietitian is responsible and accountable to provide competent, safe and ethical professional practice to the patient/client, family, and community. The dietitian advises on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors. Responsible to provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of the patient, client/community through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support and rehabilitation. The dietitian is responsible to participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including but not limited to precepting Dietetic Interns.

As a member of the inter-professional team the dietitian contributes to client care through collaboration with health care team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care and supporting a range of health care services. These services are provided within a holistic, client-centered framework in accordance with our mission, vision, values, and strategic direction.

Qualifications
Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition/Dietetics required
Successful completion of a dietetic internship program accredited by Dietitians of Canada required
Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association (NSDA) required
Membership with Dietitians of Canada preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of recent related experience in an acute care/community setting
Demonstrated leadership abilities and professional accountability
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

Dietitian:
$30.1347 - $39.7230 hourly
