We are looking for a customer-focused, team player with banking experience for a full-time Mortgage Specialist position.
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate a superior commitment to meeting customer needs by providing prompt, accurate service and processing to existing clients requesting to make changes to their mortgage. This position plays an important role in the establishment and maintenance of a strong customer relationship that supports the business’s client retention strategies.
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm AST or EST depending on location
Location: Halifax or Waterloo
Process and manage mortgage applications received in a professional, timely and accurate manner using the established credit policies and within established service standards
Review each client’s application and recommend solutions as appropriate
Follow up with clients, advisors and banking consultants regarding missing information or documentation
Respond and resolve inquiries from internal and external customers, via phone or email
Responsible to create and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
Support the movement to the culture of Customer Centricity and high performance within the company
2-3 years’ experience in residential mortgages and mortgage underwriting practices
Strong knowledge of residential mortgage industry, rates, fees and terms
Solid knowledge of the various changes clients can make to their mortgage account and the documentation and underwriting required for each.
Ability to read and interpret financial statements, understand the connection between income statement and balance sheet figures, calculate liquidity, debt service and leverage ratios and understand the implications of the proposed lending on the applicant’s financial statements.
Superior communication skills, both written and oral
Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to positively influence and negotiate
Excellent organizational/ prioritization skills and time management to successfully multitask in a high volume, rapidly changing work environment
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Strong attention to detail
In depth understanding of Manulife Bank’s products, processes and systems would be an asset
Sales background would be beneficial
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills
Bilingual French/English an asset
