What is the opportunity?
As Senior Manager, Ventures Risk Lead you will partner with the Ventures Leadership team, key partners to deliver an integrated program of strategic initiatives. You will be responsible to create a pro-active risk culture that also drives new business model creation. Help Ventures in identifying risk mitigations and educate and supports Venture Leads in partnership with functional risk partners. Supports Ventures in identifying, evaluating, mitigating and monitoring risk across all risk areas in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Framework and helps ensure optimal risk governance in an innovation environment
What will you do?
Acts as a risk Subject Matter Expert
Actively supports Ventures teams by providing guidance and direction on risk identification and compensating mitigants or controls
Instrumental role in delivery of Risk Model 2.0 for Ventures
Ensures Ventures teams understand, document and escalate risks, including those associated with another line of business or RBC entity for the benefit of the Enterprise
Escalates significant risk issues and events to support effective resolution
Engages with Venture teams and Second Line of Defence partners, to ensure Ventures understand and adhere to requirements and risk controls
Actively identifies areas of opportunity to streamline the risk assessment process to enable accelerated delivery cadence without compromising risk posture and governance requirements
Partners with Second Line of Defence risk, including Group Risk Management, Fraud Management, Law Group, AML Compliance, Global Compliance & Privacy, Global Cyber Security, and Business Continuity Management
Acts as the liaison and point person between Ventures and Auditors
What do you need to succeed?
Graduate degree in business or related discipline and/or MBA, LLB, CPA, or other professional related qualification
Relevant Risk Management experience
Passion for the purpose and mission of RBC Ventures
Experience in financial services sector
Proven business acumen and credibility
Strong influencing, collaboration, relationship building and communication skills
Strategic mindset, with significant knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization
Proven change management capabilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature and comfort challenging current practices
A commitment to streamlined and effective processes simultaneously driving business goals while ensuring appropriate governance
