The Pacific Agricultural Certification Society (PACS) is looking for a talented and committed individual to fill a full time Level 1 Certification (Document) Reviewer. The PACS is an organic certifying body, accredited by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to certify agricultural products in accordance with the requirements of the Canada Organic Regime. The PACS is based out of Vernon, BC serving locally and internationally certified organic enterprises, and is an incorporated not for profit society that is directly linked to the clients it serves. As there are no profits, fees are tied specifically to costs; therefore, our organization relies on the talents and expertise of our staff.

Under the direction and supervision of the PACS Executive Director, who oversees the PACS office and personnel, the Certification (Document) Reviewer will assess certification documents and make certification decisions. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as part of a team, proficiency in Microsoft Office, a positive personality, strong work ethic, enthusiasm and will be health/environmentally-minded. Job specific training will be provided on-site and preference will be given to those who have a background in agriculture, organics and/or working with regulations. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or diploma; however,we will consider candidates with relevant industry related experience. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a background in agriculture, organics or working with regulations.

Note: Job specific training provided on site. This in-house position is based out of Vernon, BC.

  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Organized with excellent written & verbal communication and numerical competency
  • Multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to prioritize tasks as directed

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review initial and renewal applications and prepare inspection pre-reviews
  • Review inspection reports and documents and assess these against all appropriate standards, regulations and policies
  • Complete Certification Review Reports determining a clients organic status
  • Maintain and organize Certification file documents and file folders
  • Perform and assist with other related duties, as assigned

Commitment: Part-time and Full-time

Start Date: TBD

Office Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 am to 4:00 pm)
