The Opportunity

You are an experienced Carpenter looking to leverage your proven skills and knowledge in a challenging and rewarding environment. As a key member of our team, we will rethink construction together, from idea to completion. Everywhere. All the time. Period.

The Project

The A/B Jetty is a nearly $250 million-dollar project in Esquimalt on Vancouver Island. The first phase of the project is set to take 4 years with the opportunity to grow to a period of up to 8 years. It involves the reconstruction of existing capital infrastructure that includes two jetties with 278 foundation piles up to 250ft long and requiring roughly 30,000 cubic meters of concrete. Significant construction techniques and methods in a marine environment are required to tackle this project. This could be your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

What YOU Will Do

Comprehend blueprint readings to prepare layouts including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, and measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions;
Understand industrial concrete forming and engineered forming systems to accurately build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers, and other structures;
Build hoardings and temporary shelters;
Check completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb, and the right size, shape, and location;
Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections, complete daily Field Level Hazard Assessments, and log and report any maintenance concerns with the equipment;
Fill out and understand an equipment logbook;
Complete task hazard assessments and ensure the safety of the crew, equipment, and environment;
Ensure that work is completed during regular hours.

What YOU Will Bring

***Must have current Reliability government clearance;
Must have a Journeyperson Carpenter Ticket from a recognized provincial training authority or be a Registered Carpenter Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority;
Non-ticketed carpenters must provide proof of hours relevant to the carpentry trade;
Must have 4 or more years of civil construction experience;
Must possess Ground Disturbance Level 2;
Must possess Wildlife Awareness;
Must possess valid Fall Protection Certification;
Must possess valid Confined Space Certification;
Emergency Level or Standard First Aid Level certification is considered an asset;
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and 3 Year Driver’s Abstract (within 30 days) required.
