The Director, PMO will:
The Director, PMO (Head of Project Management) will be the most senior project manager in the marketing organization. Leading a team of 8 people (4 project managers and 4 project coordinators) the incumbent will plan for, forecast and determine PM staffing for all marketing initiatives requiring project management. Along with counterparts (Director, Strategy and Resource Manager) reporting into the Marketing Strategy and PMO lead, this role will represent the perspective of the PMO in key enterprise support decisions, in establishing process and/or workflow norms and overall input to optimize the effectiveness of the department. As the subject matter expert in project management (from Waterfall to Scrum), the incumbent will lead and inform the most efficient ways to advance key marketing initiatives, outcomes and campaigns, imparting them upon the team. Responsibility for measurement of PM efficiency and effectiveness across different campaigns will reside with this role.
Role responsibilities include:
Educate team members on the most effective PM strategies
Establish key tenets and process norms for PMO
Support/advise team members as needed
Planning and Forecasting
Guide planning for project management resourcing across enterprise marketing
Identify and assign all PMs/PCs to projects as required.
Managing risk and resource challenges
Staffing selective projects/outcomes/campaigns as most Senior PM.
Advice or support major marketing outcomes from SME perspective as required
Team Status and PMO leadership
Manage team with connections points for all PMs at a regular cadence.
Represent PMO agenda among Strategy and PMO department leads meetings
Best in class
Stay up to date on key advancements in project management
Obtain key accreditation as necessary
Desired Skills & Experience:
Be a strong leader
Have PMP or CAPM designation, and ideally be trained in Scrum
Be comfortable working within and implementing an agile process methodology
Ideal candidate will have had experience working within a marketing, advertising or communications organization
An effective educator in training the team
A good team player who can reinforce the value of her function, but contextualize it in the bigger picture.
Be a structured, methodical, organized thinker who can forecast and plan with confidence
A strong troubleshooter who can absorb curveballs and build strategies to get back on track
Be confident to challenge people where needed
