LOCATION: Fort McMurray, Alberta (CA-AB)

Are you experienced in constructing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground electrical power transmission and distribution systems!? We want you to use your superior technical knowledge to and perform safe, preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance of our powerline and substation assets as well as associated auxiliary equipment.

You will use your expertise to:
Solve and repair all high voltage systems and equipment to ensure optimum reliability and availability
Execute maintenance activities such as installation and perform installation of cable splices and terminations
Coordinate work with other departments such as operations, reliability, protection and automation to aid in restoring our assets back to operational state
Support planning, scheduling and field monitoring of all maintenance activities on the area assets
Prepare and submit detailed feedback on work orders as a result of maintenance activities in an effort to improve our maintenance plans, records and tasks lists
Perform corrective repair work and testing of transformers, switchgears, cables terminations, circuit breakers, potential and current transformers, and direct current systems
Actively participate in post event failure analysis and root cause discussions
Perform powerline and substation maintenance inspections on such assets as transmission towers, wooden poles and supporting hardware, power lines, vegetation monitoring and maintenance, high voltage crossings, transformers, breakers, switches, relays, batteries, chargers, current transformers and potential transformers, ground grid, control wiring and fencing
Review and apply continuous improvement input as it pertains to work practices, procedures, check sheets and standards
Review and mark-up relevant drawings after equipment installation or corrective work are completed

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Five or more years of experience in leading high voltage switching/operating activities is required.
A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
A valid Alberta Journeyperson Power Line Technician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Power Line Technician Certificate; attach your Journeyperson / Red Seal ticket with your application to be considered
A valid Class 3 driver’s license with a Q endorsement
Proven knowledge in maintaining high voltage power systems, lines, as well as substation equipment
Proficient in understanding and interpreting single line diagrams for the purpose of operating and maintaining substation equipment
A solid understanding of equipotential bounding and grounding to attain a safe working state of electrical equipment for troubleshooting purposes
A zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it
Alignment with our values

Preference for:
A valid Crane and Hoisting Equipment Operator ticket

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
The shift schedule is a five days on / four days off, five days on / five days off, four days on, five days off rotation; 12-hour shifts
This position is safety sensitive
This position is security sensitive which requires you to clear a criminal history check
If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
