Program: Residential Services

Compensation: $18.15 / hour + $0.50 shift differential for shifts between 12:00am-8:00am + EAP

Status: First two weeks of training will be full-time Monday through Friday 12:00am-8:00am commencing on November 25. Full Time for the month of December-January 4, 2020 (12:00am-8:00am), including stats. Potential for casual thereafter (no guaranteed hours).

Position Overview

Assists clients to live successfully in a residential setting through which a harm reduction approach is utilized, as it is our focus to keep people safe, minimize death, disease and injury associated with higher risk behaviour. Ensures that client’s physical, emotional, social, educational, and medical needs are met. Assists clients to enhance quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life-skills.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators

  • Recognize and address challenging and emergent situations
  • Ensuring completion of necessary documentation
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment

Major Responsibilities

  • Complete duties in accordance with organizational and/or program policies, as well as the mission, ethics, values and constitution of the Society.
  • Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations.
  • Administer medications to clients in accordance with established policy.
  • Assist with case management.
  • Provide emotional support and feedback to residents.
  • Perform residence maintenance and housekeeping on as needed basis.
  • Provide documentation as per program policy.

*Other duties within the scope of work as assigned by the Director of Residential Services

Qualifications

  • Education and Knowledge: Certificate in a related human / social service field.
  • Training and experience: One (1) year recent related experience.
  • Class 5 driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract and access to vehicle for use during work hours would be preferred but not mandatory
  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) for working with Vulnerable Adults
  • Level 1 First Aid.
