This exciting career opportunity at the new Pickering Casino Resort is seeking dynamic individuals with a drive to succeed, strong guest relations and supervisory skills; responsibilities of this role will align with the position of Steakhouse Supervisor upon opening of Pickering Casino Resort.
Upon opening and under the general direction of Manager of the Steakhouse, this position is responsible for overseeing and directing front of house staff to ensure the restaurant operations is operating smoothly. The Steakhouse Supervisor is responsible to provide excellent internal and external customer dining experience while engaging with customers to obtain feedback. Manages the performance of the front house staff and encourages a welcoming work environment. Responsible to communicate and direct employees of their daily tasks and running of the shift. Provide advice and assistance to management as needed. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures. Above all else, management must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues!
Pickering Casino Resort is slated to open in early 2020 and will feature a number of gaming and dining options, while the second phase will include a full scope of entertainment amenities and hotel offerings. Once complete, the Pickering Casino Resort will include a casino, hotel, entertainment center, and multiple food outlets, providing a mix of adventure, culture, cuisine, and entertainment.
The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:
Excellent internal and external customer service skills;
Prepares work schedules for steakhouse staff;
Assign responsibilities and duties to respective roles to effectively manage operations;
Ensure safe and responsible service relative to all aspects of the sale and service of all food and beverage products;
Ensure employees report to work adhering to company policies and procedures;
Manage and motivate employees through constant communication.
Supervise employees and reinforcing company expectations and areas of improvements;
Maintain food service and production levels – ensure that food is prepared and served in the appropriate quantity and with the utmost quality.
Ensure operations are in accordance with kitchen sanitation and safety standards
Monitors inventories, orders and/or requisitions food and beverage supplies as needed.
Conduct performance evaluation, coaching and issuance of corrective actions to employees as required;
Maintain payroll systems including authorizing shifts, calculating bi-weekly time sheets, monitoring attendance and attendance management program for employees;
Strong understanding of the cash system policies and procedures and ensure compliance;
Complete daily reports and documents as required;
Responsible to assist with the full recruitment process;
Resolve customer concerns and complaints promptly and respectfully;
Provide training to new and existing employees and development opportunities;
Develops communication implementation plans to optimize performance of entertainment, promotions and special events; maximizes awareness and participation from team members and guests.
Liaises with marketing operations team members to report on site marketing results (e.g., event revenue, implementation strategies, best practices, guest and team member feedback, etc.)
Supports the GEM program with team member awareness initiatives and measurement of guest satisfaction
Contributes to annual site marketing plan and budget; maintains budgeted loyalty and promotional costs for campaigns and special events, including advertising.
Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational department heads.
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, team members, vendors and regulators.
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:
High School Diploma; Post-secondary education in marketing, tourism, hospitality, public relations, advertising or management is an asset;
Minimum 5 years of front of house experience working in a high-volume establishment; preferably gained within a 5-star hotel or restaurant establishment
Must have 3 years supervisory experience and comes from a fine dining industry;
Extensive wine and food experience within a 4 or 5 star hotel or restaurant establishment;
Experience supervising in a unionized environment is an asset;
WHIMIS Certification and/ or Food Safety Training is required;
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel);
Must have knowledge in Point of Sale system (POS) and inventory management systems;
Ability to lead, motivate, and manage employees;
Must have strong customer service orientated background with strong people and diversity skills;
Strong written and verbal communication skills – clear and professional demeanor;
Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize with efficiency;
Possess strong conflict resolution skills including employee and customer disputes;
Computer literacy in MS Office
The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with AGCO
Ability to obtain SmartServe
