The Manager of Respiratory Therapy at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, reports directly to the Executive Director of Critical Care, Burns, Neurosciences, Respiratory Therapy and the Stroke Program at the University of Alberta Hospital. In this position you will be responsible and accountable for providing direction and leadership over patient care activities and administrative operations in support of the vision and mission of Alberta Health Services. You will be accountable for the performance and results of staff and will provide guidance by following policies and best practices. In this position you will be responsible for operationalizing departmental plans to address service challenges as well as developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Specific Accountabilities: Oversees Respiratory Therapy, Therapeutic Services and Pulmonary Function Lab at the RAH ensuring they support the overall goals and vision for Alberta Health Services.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Critical Care, Burns, Neurosciences, Respiratory Therapy and the Stroke Program at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Manager, Respiratory Therapy at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is accountable for the development and implementation of programs, projects, infrastructure and performance standards across a team of health professionals within the Respiratory Therapy Program. The Manager is responsible for quality improvement and the identification and management of risk within this portfolio. A key focus of this role involves the coordination and organization of assigned human, financial and material resources to ensure effective program delivery and the identification and resolution of issues that impact the program. This position plays a key role in strategic planning and development of new initiatives within the Respiratory Therapy program. The incumbent may also represent AHS Edmonton Zone at zonal and provincial tables.

Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy. Minimum five year’s recent management experience in an acute care setting required. Must be eligible for registration with the appropriate professional association. Familiarity with applicable legislation and professional Standards of Practice. Strong leadership skills combined with the ability to motivate and promote a positive work environment that is open to change and new approaches to care is essential. Must be able to maintain privacy, and confidentiality.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Equivalences of education and experience may be considered. Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related health or business field is preferred.
