Job Purpose:
The Utility Person position assists the Maintenance department with all activities. This role will assist with maintenance, organizing, and documentation within the department.

Minimum Education / Training Required

Grade 12, GED, or equivalent
Must have Forklift License or have ability to obtain Forklift License
Must have Aerial Lift Platform Certification or have ability to obtain Aerial Lift Platform Certification
Computer efficiency and systems knowledge in all required areas

Duties and Responsibilities

Complete new or ongoing projects (5S, Tool, etc.)
General organizing/clean-up of shop floor areas as required
Suggest corrective actions and/or Continuous Improvements
Ensure work area is clean, neat, orderly, and free of scrap materials
Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures
Assist team members to achieve work goals and objectives
Ensure work areas are clean, neat, and orderly
Back up lift truck as required
Assist and implementation of new principles and practices
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists
All other relevant duties

Working Conditions

Maintenance area: normal lighting, room to ambient temperatures
Willing to work overtime when required

Physical Demands Requirements

Must be physically fit to perform essential duties of job.
Lifting of up to 30kg
Working at heights, with heavy equipment and around moving
The work often requires considerable standing, kneeling and lifting of heavy materials
Various work procedures requires considerable bending, twisting and turning of body in performing job tasks
Other important attributes include good coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to visualize a layout in 3 dimensions

Tools and Equipment Required

Milling machine, lathe, drill presses, arbour presses, and associated tools
Precision measuring instruments
Mig and tig welders, saws, heat treat ovens, torches
Multi meter, electrical measurement test equipment
Overhead Crane
Aerial Work Platform / Scissor and Boom Lift equipment
Lift truck equipment
Hand tools
Office equipment - computer, telephone, fax, photocopier, etc.
