Senior Policy Advisor

Finance and Treasury Board is looking for a highly motivated candidate to fill the position of Senior Policy Advisor within the Policy and Performance Excellence Unit.
The Department of Finance and Treasury Board is a central agency of the Government of New Brunswick. The department is responsible for human resources; expenditure management and fiscal oversight; agency relations; fiscal and tax policy; revenue administration; the Treasury; and information management through the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). Finance and Treasury Board supports the Executive Branch of government in its decision-making and provides strategic direction to client departments and organizations regarding government's human resources, finances, revenues, economic forecasts, agency relations, risk, technology and information policy.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Performance Excellence, the Senior Policy Advisor will be:
Working on policy development for review with senior officials, including regularly scheduled briefings with the Deputy Minister and Minister and representing the Department on cross-departmental projects and policy development.
Developing Memoranda to Executive Council Preparing briefing material for senior management.
Overseeing the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act(RTIPPA) and legislation coordination functions for the Department. This will require supervision of staff.
Conducting analysis and developing recommendations for departmental and government-wide policies for which the department has ownership.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a University degree in a related field and a minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience in a policy environment.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following:
Experience delivering presentations to senior management/government committees.
Experience doing research.
Experiencing writing Memoranda to Executive Council with minimum supervision.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one, or a combination, of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: Pay Band 6 - $65,650 to $87,360 per annum
