In this role, you will:
Supervise the assigned procurement team and provide leadership as a key member of the procurement function.
Be responsible for the occupational health & safety of all direct reports under your supervision.
Ensure all purchase orders within your authority are compliant with Babcock Canada’s Commercial policies and procedures.
Manage the purchasing process from requisition to delivery and ensure high response rates and reliability levels of the procurement team.
Drive vendor management initiatives, develop supplier relationships and ensure supplier performance in terms of time, cost and quality as per contract requirements.
Assist with the design and engagement of supply chains that meet project requirements. Supporting the delivery of project objectives through the rigorous management of contract and supplier performance.
Support the concept of category management and source suitable suppliers, within Canada where possible.
Be committed to and proactively identify, lead and collaborate on procurement process improvement initiatives.
Undertake staff management activities to support and maintain a motivated and skilled procurement team. Activities include setting team objectives, managing performance appraisals, coaching/ development, initiating training and monitoring effectiveness of same.
Encourage a continuous improvement culture while ensuring the team are proactively supported through change management.
Have demonstrated analytical skills to understand, measure, report metrics and be conversant with a suite of business productivity tools.
Complete other duties as necessary.
As our ideal candidate,
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or have an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certification through the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) or through an equivalent professional body is considered an asset
You have at least 5 years’ experience in a management role within procurement or the supply chain function; experience within Defence / Aviation industry is highly desirable.
You have highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
You have detailed knowledge of the principles of supply chain management techniques and supply chain best practices.
You have advanced skills or interest in data analysis; proficiency with Excel, Power BI or other business intelligence tools is highly desirable.
You have in depth experience with ERP systems, specifically modules pertaining to procurement and supply chain management.
You are eligible for Canadian NATO Secret Security and ITAR Clearances.
