The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Secretary PL4 with the Department of French. This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), one-year term (leave replacement) position with the SALAC employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary of $20.10 per hour.
This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Department of French.
Provide administrative assistance to the Chair of the Department and various program coordinators.
Exercise considerable independent judgement and initiative.
Maintain financial records and accounting for various budgets.
Perform word processing and photocopying of material.
Prepare all course proposals, staffing submissions, contractual agreements, as well as staff change recommendation forms for students hired under funded programs.
Assist with information flow and planning for early registration, fall/winter registration, management of class lists and wait lists. Assist with French Placement procedures. Operate UNB Administration System to access student records, course information and on-line registration for students.
Provide assistance in timetable preparation and classroom reservations.
Answer inquiries and provide information about French course offerings,
Make appointments and travel arrangements, arrange interview schedules and organize events.
Order office and computer supplies and other materials and maintain inventory.
Organize and maintain the departmental office files, maintaining confidentiality.
Native or near-native command of English. Excellent knowledge of French would be an asset.
High School graduation supplemented by a professional secretarial/administrative assistant program with emphasis on computing and a minimum of five yearsâ related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good interpersonal and demonstrated oral and written communication skills; tact, diplomacy and professionalism in dealing with people.
Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet applications and/or related software.
Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines. Must have ability to work independently and efficiently.
