The Therapeutic Specialist will be reporting to the Senior Business Unit Director, Inflammation and will be responsible for:

Establishing a territory of highly defined customer base in the Vancouver region.
Developing an understanding of the issues and opportunities unique to each region and is able to present and effectively communicate recommendations to marketing and sales management.
Representing Gilead’s products and services to a defined customer base within a specific geographic area.
Utilizing an in–depth level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to healthcare professionals.
Preparing business plan for own territory, assigns targets and communicates required actions to achieve goals.
Assisting others with their individual plans and is productive at developing in-depth market interpretation of sales analysis data.
Initiating systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.
Managing territory budgets for customer contacts, speaker events and other miscellaneous external expenditures.
Collaboration with outside partner companies to co-promote products or services.
Representing company at professional events and promote company products at such events.
Working cooperatively with Medical Science Liaisons, Marketing and other internal Gilead team members on various cross-functional projects related to specific accounts or physicians.
Working as an individual contributor. Forms, builds and extends professional business relationships with key customers or accounts.
Effectively manages networks for product with thought leaders.
Organizing sales initiatives within the market as directed and follows up on these to ensure their successful completion.
Setting a positive example for others to follow.
Taking the lead on projects within team e.g. liaison role with marketing, meetings coordinator etc.
Participating in the development and mentoring of less experienced team members.
Completing necessary administrative tasks in a timely manner e.g. updating customer database, expenses etc.
Achieving the competency levels required in the role.
Adhering to company policies, procedures and business ethics and demonstrates Gilead’s company values of Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Integrity and Inclusion.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Requires a BA or BS degree and minimum of 6 - 8 years of relevant selling experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry with at least 4 years in specialty sales. Experience in Inflammation is preferred.
Must be self-motivated and able to work with a high level of autonomy and independence.
Serves as technical expert of assigned product, therapeutic classes, and patient needs to educate/influence key physicians.
This position requires knowledge of industry trends and competitor’s resources and practices.
Pharmaceutical industry selling experience is essential and relevant therapeutic knowledge is required.
