WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Project Accountant/Senior Project Accountant, you are responsible for monitoring and improving the financial health of projects, focusing on continuous improvement, and maximizing profitability. You will collaborate with Project Managers and the Project Team and perform monthly billing, cost control, forecasting, project administration and reporting for large and complex projects.
Own the setup and maintenance of projects in Timberline per accounting and company policies, including:
Ensuring contractual agreement compliance
Ensuring subcontracts and commitments are correctly recorded and tracked
Establishing and maintaining invoicing templates and schedules, cost codes and contract items, rate tables and customer details
Own the project close-out process by ensuring all financial activities and requirements are carried out in a timely manner
Work with the Project Team to improve project administration processes and effectiveness
Support and participate in annual external audits and resolution activities
Manage the project invoicing function to ensure timely and accurate billings by:
Reviewing, tracking and maintaining all project transaction documents for accuracy and completeness
Ensuring billings do not exceed approved budget limits and all change orders are recorded and tracked
Reviewing draft invoices for accuracy
Monitor AR reports and assist with collections
Process invoice payments and holdback releases on a timely basis in accordance with contract terms to maintain vendor relations while managing project cash flow
Support the Project Team by providing monthly cost and profitability reporting, including monthly accrual entry
Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial performance reports and KPI's by:
Gathering cash flow projections, cost projections, and project status updates from the Project Team and challenging the financial health of projects during regular reviews
Reporting on project financial performance, including variance analysis on budget vs actuals vs forecasts and project profitability
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

3 to 7 years Project Accounting experience in a design and/or construction environment
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
Pursuing or holds a CMA/CGA/CPA designation
Excellent computer skills including MS Excel, Word and other MS Office software
Expert knowledge of Timberline (Sage 300) accounting, Replicon timesheet software and SAP Concur expense software
Excellent understanding of Computerized Accounting Software, such as AccPac or another large batch entry accounting application
Knowledge of the Builders Lien Act and Construction Contract and/or Design/Build Contracts
Proven knowledge and understanding of company risk management/project control policies
