Downtown Toronto - Steps to Union Station
Our client, a large national law firm, is in need of an IP Assistant who is responsible for a variety of routine and administrative duties related to the prosecution of and/or renewal and maintenance of Patents and Trade Marks. This position receives some direction or guidance; but most tasks are performed independently.
The responsibilities and qualifications include:
At least 5-8 years of experience working in the area of Patents or Trade Marks.
Knowledge of both Canadian and Foreign Patent and Trade Mark practises (especially US, EP and PCT).
Provides support and mentoring to other members of the team, while assisting with the day-to-day tasks.
Ability to use an Intellectual Property database for daily tasks such as preparing correspondence to CIPO and/or clients.
Deliver daily diaries, file documents at CIPO by the daily deadline, monitor Patent/Trademark renewals, prepare patent applications for filing, ensure payment of Canadian maintenance fees, update Diary Reports dealing with registered Canadian trade marks and all foreign cases, prepare the on-line filing of trade mark applications etc.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment producing high quality and quantity of work product.
Handle stress in a business-like manner, re-defining priorities when necessary.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation will depend on experience.
