Job Purpose

The Site Supervisor is responsible for day to day management of the construction site. Working with the Project Manager to ensure the completion and delivery of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervising, coordinating and scheduling the daily activities of construction trades-people
  • Establishing coordinating methods to meet work schedules and coordinating work activities with other departments/sub-contractors/supervisors/managers
  • Resolving work problems and recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Ordering materials and supplies
  • Ensure accurate up to date reports
  • Training or arranging for the training of workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • Ensuring standards for safe working conditions are observed
  • Preparing schedules, work progress, production and other reports
  • Supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of related apprentices, helpers and labourers
  • Managing complete operations on site
  • Demonstrate competency in order to advise workers of the existence of any actual or potential dangers in the workplace
  • Complete and maintain all required site paperwork to be used as documentation and due diligence
  • Respond to any health and safety concerns raised any workplace party
  • Investigate all incidents and initiate corrective actions to correct the situation or prevent a recurrence
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker
  • Ensure that all workers work in compliance with the Provincial legislation and the Company Health and Safety program
  • Ensure that work is performed in a safe manner and all required Personal Protective Equipment, devices or clothing, are properly used and maintained
  • Initiate progressive disciplinary action, according to policy
  • Conduct daily information session regarding the site-specific tasks and objectives as part of the daily hazard assessment process
  • Conduct regular safety talks with all workplace parties active on that site
  • Conduct weekly workplace inspections on active projects under their direct authority
  • When required, provide and record appropriate first aid for workers under their supervision
  • Ensure that emergency response procedures are initiated and understood by all staff under their supervision
  • May perform duties of their trade

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • You have at least 4+ years progressive experience in commercial and industrial building industry as a Site Supervisor
  • You are effective in providing supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities and complete projects on time
  • Have strong leadership and problem solving, able to build trust and working relationship with sub-contractors and team members
  • You have developed competence in areas of safety regulations, workforce management, project execution and quality control
  • Hands on construction experience and supervision
  • Supervisor Safety Awareness, WHMIS, Working at Heights, and First Aid training
  • Own transportation with valid driver's license
  • Knowledge in the operation/use of materials, tools and equipment
  • You have the ability to recognize problem situations, evaluate, and produce workable solutions to a successful completion
  • Graduate from recognized engineering, architectural or construction management program is an asset
