Clark Wilson LLP is seeking an intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to join our growing Technology and Intellectual Property practice group. The ideal candidate will have Trademark experience. This is a full time, permanent position and is ideal for anyone wanting to join a firm that takes pride in having a collegial working atmosphere, where growth and professional development are supported.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • preparing documents pertaining to trademark files, both for issuance to clients and for filing with CIPO;
  • assisting with trademark prosecution files, with a focus on trademark oppositions and section 45 cancellation proceedings;
  • maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system;
  • managing stringent deadlines and the volume of a busy practice of multiple agents;
  • liaising with legal assistants, paralegals, other lawyers and clients on file progress; and
  • general administrative duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • graduate of an accredited legal administrative assistant or relevant experience;
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal environment supporting a business solicitor, particularly in the field of trademarks (with preference to candidates who have longer experience);
  • excellent organizational skills and, attention to detail;
  • strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, Document Comparison Software and the CIPO e-filing process;
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities;
  • a client centered approach with the commitment to providing outstanding service;
  • the ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines;
  • dedicated to providing service beyond expectation; and
  • the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and, confidentiality, and to adapt to changing demands.
