About This Opportunity

Canning Medical Clinic is seeking a part-time physician to join this rural practice with one other physician. The clinic is closely affiliated with the physicians at Mud Creek Medical in Wolfville.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in inpatient care at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), help support the after-hours clinic in Wolfville, or offer support in other avenues during after hours to care for the patient population.

VRH opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents.

be accountable for appropriate workload and practice

provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level heath care
build to capacity within the first two years
operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
work toward same day or next day access for the practice population
work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needs
work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
participate in quality improvement and evaluation activitie
utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members
Expected Hours
all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
