Our Vale Newfoundland and Labrador Operation is currently seeking a:

Senior Asset Integrity Engineer (Inspector) / Senior Fixed Asset Reliability Engineer

The Opportunity:
Responsible for reliability engineering issues associated with the design, installation, or maintenance programs for Tanks, Vessels, Heat Exchangers and Piping with a primary goal is to continuously improve equipment performance and reliability through the adoption of world class engineering principles, proven reliability tools such as RBI, and continual improvement of maintenance strategies on equipment. This position will closely interface with other internal groups to ensure that plant efficiency is optimized without impact to safety, the environment, or the community.

This is a permanent position located in Long Harbour, NL.

Accountabilities:
Utilize reliability tools such as Risk Based Inspection (RBI), reliability centered maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) to develop predictive maintenance (PdM) and preventative maintenance (PM) maintenance Strategies for fixed assets;
Implement reliability programs with a focus on fixed assets such as Tanks, Vessels, Heat Exchangers and Piping to maximize production profit by minimizing equipment downtime through improved maintenance procedures and strategies as well as improved design and installation criteria, minimize overall cost by reduction of failures and reducing maintenance manpower requirements;
Manage a Risk based Inspection (RBI) program for fixed assets and be responsible for the program success by development of procedures, tools, and resources used. Work closely with the QA/QC Coordinator and QA inspectors;
Work within the guidelines of the Quality Control Program for Registered Pressure Piping, ensuring that all activities comply with Provincial Regulations;
Manage the Structural Integrity inspection program;
Act as a technical resource to the Reliability and Maintenance group and provide fit for service analysis and recommendations for fixed assets;
Perform regular audits of reliability programs to ensure that quality is maintained, ensuring that all programs are designed to safely operate without impact to employees, the business, the environment, and the community, and utilize this information to continuously improve the system. Develop KPIs to measure the performance of developed reliability programs and update these KPIs on a continuous basis;
Interface with Maintenance Planning personnel on a regular basis to ensure that equipment data, spares requirements, and procedures and documentation are modified as necessary as a result of additions, deletions or modifications to the plant processes or configuration;
Ensure that all work is completed through established Request Management of Change (RFA) policies and procedures;
Provide, corrosion engineering technical support when failure symptoms have been detected, in order to develop the actions required to prevent a failure;
Support operations and execution teams to conduct Continuous Improvement Projects related to operating or maintaining assets. Makes recommendations for improving the repair cycle on assets. This includes applying existing engineered solutions or Vale engineering standards;
Provides maintainability and operability design input to engineering and project teams to ensure components, assets and systems can be maintained (repaired, replaced, etc.) as efficiently as possible;
Conduct Reliability Analysis and Improvement (Analyzing trends, KPIs – MTTR/MTBF, data analysis, bad actor failure analysis and optimization).

Education:
An undergraduate Engineering degree (mechanical or chemical discipline preferred);
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEGNL; Eligible or obtained
Certifications considered an asset;
NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers);
API 571 (Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment);
API 653, 570, 510, NBBI and/or CWB Welding Inspector;
Maintenance Reliability Professional and/or Maintenance Management Professional.

Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience preferred;
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a Fixed Asset Inspection or Corrosion Engineering role;
Working knowledge and experience in a complex industrial setting;
An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Knowledge and Skills:
Competent in SAP considered an asset;
Strong knowledge of MS office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint);
Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management;
Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills;
Knowledge and experience with specialized software packages for thickness monitoring, RBI, fit for service, etc.
