With extensive experience in an office furniture dealer environment with technical systems furniture planning, application and knowledge:
The production of computer-generated presentation drawings and specifications, providing appropriate and creative application of product and coordination of project time frames, all done in a professional and timely manner.
Together with sales personnel or independently with existing clients, evaluates client needs and determines scope of services required by client.
Clear understanding of the intricacies involved in contract furniture moves and installation. Able to cost a client move to ensure smooth delivery of services and successful completion.
Works closely with dealership sales team and installation groups, as well as with customers, to ensure accurate plans and specifications conform with client’s requirements. Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and high quality proposal preparation for excellent project implementation. Periodically required to travel to site to verify site conditions and take inventory
Is comfortable participating in presentations to clients and end users
Produces accurate drawings and specifications for systems furniture including accurate costings using CET Designer (Configura) specification program for proposal generation.
Obtains client approvals and signed off drawings and finish schedules for all products.
Mentors and trains other team members in the preparation of quality proposals and presentations.
Prepares all necessary drawings and documents required for installation, i.e., furniture plan, electrical plan, elevations, 3D drawings, notes and legends.
Assists team with specification/application checking to ensure accuracy and proper application of the product, as required.
Provides technical design expertise in order to develop and deliver an effective, on time proposal
Participates in field site review and inventories of existing furniture
Participates in post occupancy evaluation and deficiency list evaluations and assists with processing deficiencies
Produces accurate, on time specifications and cost estimates using specification programs
Maintains all project files/job folder according to department standards.
Organizes and files drawings and specifications to ensure they are current
Maintains accurate timesheet and activity log records and attends all department and company internal meetings.
Effectively interfaces and interacts with all departments to develop and maintain the highest quality of service to clients
Stays current on furniture, design and furniture trends by attending vendor presentations and shows and by reading industry newsletters and periodicals.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant North American workplace design, contract furniture experience in commercial design or furniture dealership
Superb design and detailing skills, ability to prepare conceptual sketches by hand and on computer
Comprehensive knowledge of various office furniture manufacturers
Excellent understanding of the furniture sales, design, proposal, order tracking and installation phases of commercial furniture projects
Experience working on multiple projects, and successfully managing priorities, conflicting deadlines and various demands
Work independently and as leader of a team
Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal in the English language, to allow for effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
Efficient and organized documentation of process and coordination
A positive attitude, confident, focused and responsible
Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines and keep Salesforce opportunities up to date
Demonstrated proficiency with Configura and Project Spec
Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Team Design experience a definite asset
Degree or diploma preferably in Interior Design
A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
