The Maintenance Manager manages all location maintenance operations including Parts Reclamation Center (PRC) and Body and Paint Shop activities, and provides all maintenance staff oversight. Directly supervises maintenance staff. Provides all maintenance operational visibility to the Location Manager. Assumes primary responsibility for managing efficient maintenance performance of the location. Ensures safe working condition of all fleet.
350 – 400 unit fleet
+/- 30 reporting employees

Service Manager Job Duties Include:
Responsible for all fleet related services including vehicle upkeep, compliance, maintenance, part reclamation services, body and paint booth services as well as assisting in troubleshooting problems with equipment. Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
In relation to employees, is responsible for hiring; terminating; approving salary increases or decreases; training and employee development; planning and directing the work; disciplining; handling employee complaints or grievances; and handling performance reviews. Some actions require further approval.
Works closely with the location manager and regional maintenance management providing status of maintenance and budget requirements. Responsible for reviewing financial and budget variances, review repair orders or code and approve account payable documents on behalf of the Location Manager.
Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with Provincial, Federal and Company requirements. Ensures a safe environment exists and that all maintenance and related activities are in conformance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Reviews repair orders and duties related to ordering fuel for vehicles (if applicable), ordering parts, and subcontracting repair work.
Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduces operating costs.
Ensures that maintenance technicians are trained on current operating procedures, are properly equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
Supervises bus fueling (or delegates). May arrange services for building and grounds keeping.
Completes special projects as assigned. Required to perform hands-on work activities.
Service Manager Job Requirements:
College related certification (business/maintenance/finance, etc.) or equivalent experience
Technical training preferred (S&T licensing)
Valid driver’s license
5+ years of hands-on mechanical managerial experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong Computer skills
Automotive or diesel repair experience; Industry experience repairing and maintaining school bus equipment is preferred
May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs
Inventory, Parts ordering and PO approval experience
Organizational & team-building skills
Knowledge of ASE programs
