Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of the Family & Community Resource Centre (FCRC) and working with the Child & YoutH Interactive Media Program (CHIMP) Coordinator, the Technologist is primarily responsible for providing technological expertise to CHIMP (numerous technologies) and the FCRC (specifically the FCRC and/orACH websites). The Technologist is responsible for carrying out some of the day to day operations of CHIMP at the ACH, the Child Development Centre and Rotary/Flames Pediatric Hospice. CHIMP provides direct service (40%) to children, youth and families by guiding access to child health information, connections to school family and friends, general internet connections, and therapeutic play using a variety of technology. The FCRC website provides access to child health information, education, and resources for youth, families, health care professionals and others in the community. Training and Technology Support (60%). Trains staff re the use of technology with patients and families. Is available to troubleshoot for staff unable to resolve tech issues. Provide ongoing maintenance and updates to the FCRC website. Provides training, guidance and ongoing supervision to CHIMP volunteers. Maintains, updates, and repairs CHIMP equipment (computers, video game consoles and mobile devices). Sets up new equipment for CHIMP; tracks and collects program equipment borrowed by patients and staff. Ensures disinfection of the program’s equipment in accordance with the organization’s infection control policies. Researche/informs team of trends and new tech mediated activities of interest and tests implementation.

Description:
As a Media Producer, you will perform technical duties to produce and edit comprehensive and creative audiovisual (AV) production services and photography support for educational/instructional use. You will be responsible for meeting with user departments to determine project/ assignment objectives, time frames and budget and recommend optimal production techniques.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Diploma related to Photography and/or Audio/Visual Multimedia Production from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in the field of Information and Communications Technology (e.g. Computer Science). Post-secondary courses in child development, health science, and medical terminology are required. A broad range of experience with computer technology is essential. Proficiency in: ICT/Computer terminology; standard workplace applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access); internet searches; children’s software; web development (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQLite); medical terminology; multimedia software (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), IT security. Excellent communication skills including ability to connect with a wide range of individuals. Broad range of technical expertise including web development and troubleshooting hardware, software and system issues. Demonstrated commitment to Patient & Family Centred Care. Demonstrated excellence in team work. Ability to be co-operative and flexible. Must have good time management skills. Experience working with children and families in hospital settings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in: Health sciences, social sciences or related discipline is preferred. Using children’s software and online resources. Digital photography and photo editing software is an asset. Direct knowledge of ACH programs and services is an asset. Experience with video recording and editing is an asset. Experience supporting volunteers.
