At Altus, we believe that great students are more than just book smart.
We work in partnership with post-secondary academic institutions to help select people with competencies such as empathy, resiliency and communication skills into the programs that grow our future medical professionals and teachers in Canada, the US and as far away as Australia. Our platform, the CASPer test, integrates psychometric evaluations and tests containing situational, open-ended questions that don’t have a right or wrong answer. Using our rigorous, well-researched and tested assessments, combined with data-driven insights, we help programs make more informed and data-driven admission decisions resulting in stronger, higher quality students and graduates. We work with over 100 academic institutions worldwide and have screened over 200,000 applicants to date.
If you are passionate about building tools that measure people and their human responses, this is the place to be.
Who we need
Before an applicant's score can be delivered to their program of choice, their test needs to be graded! At Altus, we call this process "rating". We're looking for a new Bilingual Operations Coordinator, Rating Lead to join our team and own all things "rating" for the CASPer test including setting up the first team of contractors in a brand new market (via distance) in the UK. Your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to): team recruitment including onboarding and training of raters, managing test grading across multiple markets, quality control of our different rater pools, and timely results delivery for schools.
Whether you are an Event Coordinator, a Camp Counsellor, a Project Lead, a Softball Team Captain or Coach, a Student Council President or a budding Entrepreneur, if you want to take on a multi-faceted role at a growing startup, this is the opportunity to consider.
This is a team where the emphasis is on raising people up, working together during the busy times, and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement at a relaxed pace during the slower times. If you are a team player, a well-spoken collaborator, a detail-oriented organizer, and a seeker of learning opportunities, we want to talk to you.
Who you are
You are authentic and humble, abundantly coachable and an exceptional communicator. You believe in our mission, and you are passionate about making a positive impact on society through the adoption of our product. You want to be part of an amazing, caring team, and make an impact on building a high growth but sustainable business. You are genuinely warm, smart, trustworthy, and prepared to support all team members. Above all else, you are truly a well-rounded person.
What problem are we trying to solve?
Academia is a sector where decisions are made under careful consideration. Currently, most admissions processes are based solely on cognitive or academic factors, with cumbersome and unproven tools. We know that 95% of medico-legal complaints stem from issues of professionalism and bed-side manner, and only 5% are knowledge based. This is the problem we work towards solving every day.
As a Bilingual Operations Coordinator and subject matter expert, you will build and maintain trust with our applicants and academic partners. You will:
Be an active part of the process. You will conduct ratings for all English CASPer tests across 3 global markets (Canada, USA, and Australia).
Ensure best practices in our rating process. You will share learnings derived from raters and rating performance with the entire team to improve overall test performance and applicant experience. You will seek paths for continuous optimization of our results turnaround time for our partner schools.
Build relationships. You will foster strong relationships of trust and communication with our applicants and our academic partners. You will work alongside our Customer Success team to ensure a smooth delivery of scores into their admissions process.
Rater management. You will recruit highly accountable contractors (4 separate pools totaling hundreds of independent contractors). You will onboard, train and work in close collaboration with your team across our international locations to implement and uphold the highest quality standards at all times. You will drive change by interpreting the data and sharing your insights regularly with the team.
Be analytical. You will work closely with our research and data team to dig deep into the numbers and use your analytical skills to refine our rating processes through data-driven improvements.
Our new Bilingual Operations Coordinator, Rating Lead has:
The education. Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
The experience. You have proven success in a fast-paced startup environment as a Project Coordinator or Lead.
The analytical and human mindset. You are driven by a natural curiosity to ask why. You seek the answers in the numbers, making data driven decisions and turning the results into actionable insights.
The Bilingual communication skills. You are an outstanding communicator in English and French and fluent in both reading and writing.
The ownership. You are comfortable with ambiguity and you prefer change over the status-quo. We are growing quickly and you’ll be involved in fixing/expanding processes that will break!
The collaborative approach. You have a scrappy "roll up your sleeves" approach to work. You are nurturing and empathetic with a professional, positive attitude and a sense of humility. You can build relationships within and across teams. From one-on-one conversations to panel presentations, your communication skills are outstanding.
The dedication. You want to be part of a fantastic team that cares for each other and cares about the long term success of what we do. You hold yourself accountable as a key contributor to the team - and the organization.
