Summary:
This full-time temporary position functions within a team of other professionals and will work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations Departments to support capital projects, maintenance, operations, and regulatory initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Catalog structural elements and prepare inspection/reporting templates (for upcoming MOL-Mines Branch mandatory structural and asset integrity annual reporting).

Assist with site instrumentation needs for new projects and perform diagnostics, repair, and calibration of existing units.

Improve measurement, accuracy, repeatability, and reporting capabilities of potassium sulfate production and feedstock consumption.

Filing and maintenance of engineering drawings and documents.

Assist engineering department personnel as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Instrumentation Engineering Technology.

Experience or familiarity with common instrumentation in an industrial plant setting (magnetic flow meters; DP Cells; pressure transmitters; temperature transmitters; level transmitters – radar, ultrasonic, bubble tube; load cells and scales; pH measurement; control valves; VFDs; etc.).
Familiarity with Schneider Electric automation products (PLCs and SCADA) would be an asset.

Computer / Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

This position requires a self-motivated individual to install, maintain and monitor instrumentation. Data collected will be logged and the successful individual will assist with analysis of the data.
Problem-solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; works well in group problem-solving situations.
Mechanical skills - Should have mechanical aptitude to understand interaction of equipment and the maintenance thereof.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical functions related to engineering discipline and concepts.
Reasoning Ability - Demonstrates an academic understanding of basic technical principles, theories and concepts within the discipline. Developing a sound working knowledge of the discipline and process through extensive training, mentoring and exposure
Language Skills - Fluency in English is required.
