As a Senior Software Developer at TravelClick, you are comfortable working on various systems and have a drive for learning new technologies. You are able to demonstrate expertise and passion that sets you apart from others. In addition to this, you understand data structures, communications, fault tolerance, and other key software engineering concepts. You continually apply these concepts to the specific and challenging problems we face as we rebuild a significant portion of our platform using cutting-edge technology to support our rapid growth strategy. You also enjoy problem solving up and down the stack and are not afraid to show it!

You will partner with various people onsite and across the company to create mind blowing solutions. This includes working with other TravelClick engineers, QA, vendor partners, and Product Management. We are an Agile shop who are constantly looking at ways to eliminate bureaucracy and optimize personal and collective performance and we would be looking for your help with that!

]Functional Description:
Sharing your ideas and experience with the Development team to help upgrade skills as we expand the team
Take a lead role in technical planning across the board – from proof-of-concept to automation testing
Design, develop, and execute quality software solutions to make a positive impact on business growth
Interpret business requirements and transform them into development tasks
Troubleshoot code problems quickly and efficiently
Design and implement proactive monitoring to ensure health, performance and security of our cloud infrastructures
Take ownership of high priority and / or difficult action items
Communicate plans, status and issues as required
Participate in our on-call support escalations rotation

What we are looking for:
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred
5+ years of recent professional experience in web software development, ideally in both user interface and server-side technologies (especially for real-time high-volume systems in an e-commerce / hospitality environment)
Excellent spoken and written English
Solid, recent and relevant experience with JavaScript, Java, Spring, CSS, Linux
Experience working with database systems

Additional Characteristics

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with Restful Services, Angular, React, and Bootstrap/CSS
Strong knowledge of design patterns and their applications
Strong knowledge of Git
Detail oriented, well organized, and able to multi-task in a frequent release business environment
Strong ability to analyze and problem solve in a full stack environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including an ability to communicate challenges and blockages as well as being willing and able to support other developers on your team
Although most of the team is in Ottawa, experience with working with remote team members is desired
Experienced in asking business analysts and product managers the right technical questions for optimal feature understanding
Experience working with business analysts and product management team to define requirements and designs to meet the business needs
Hotel industry domain knowledge (nice to have)
