Scope of Position
The HR Assistant contributes to the human resources and organization's objectives by supporting the human resources processes; maintaining records and information; providing support to team members, preparing reports; participating in recruitment and on-boarding activities.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Providing general human resources support by serving as the first point of contact for employees
Maintaining and updating the human resources records and information through the HRIS and other tracking systems
Preparing reports including headcount, HR Dashboard and health and safety statistics
Assisting in the recruitment process, which may include:
managing job postings, applicant screening, background checks and job offers etc.
On-boarding new hires
Updating organization charts
Participating in the worker's compensation reporting and claims management processes
Providing general administrative support including preparation of announcements, creating minutes, document distribution and filing
Assisting with human resources projects and initiatives
Handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Keeping abreast of existing and new legislation
Maintaining quality service by following organization standards Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
1-2 years’ experience in a human resources role, experience with full-cycle recruitment is preferred
Experience with social media recruitment
C.H.R.P. designation or working towards designation
A self-starter and independent thinker
Ability to build relationships and trust
Strong customer service skills
Superior interpersonal skills and solid business acumen
Works well independently as well as in a team environment with people at all levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Must be resourceful and hold strong problem solving skills
Advanced computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe
Strong attention to detail with a desire to simplify and streamline processes and procedures
