Team Lead - Chief Information Officer

Summary of the Opportunity

The Information Technology team is seeking experienced Node/Angular contractors to assist with developing our next generation program delivery platform.

The Developer will use extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to create and support custom applications that SelfDesign requires for daily operations. The Developer also acts as Tier 3 IT Support when other tiers knowledge has been exhausted and also works with the Systems group to implement organizational utilized Applications.

Candidate will have contact with internal contractors and 3rd party vendors if/when support issues arise.
This is a fast paced, high volume environment where the emphasis is on executing the development requirements process quickly and accurately. Contractors may work on some or all steps of the process depending on need.

Work Environment

We operate during Pacific Time zone business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

You set your own hours of work, between the business hours noted above. You also need to be available for occasional online meetings during these same hours. Meetings are scheduled in advance.


Contract start date: Immediately

Contract end date: July 31, 2020 - With opportunity to renew.

Remuneration: Based on Experience

Contract Details Oversight

You will work at the direction of the Team Lead listed above, and in close collaboration with the 11 member Information Technology team.

Services Required

  • Design, develop and document new software products and features as per documented requirements
  • Produce code within quality and coding standards
  • Design and execute test cases for unit and feature testing
  • Maintain, update existing software features and solutions
  • Contribute effectively to building the overall knowledge and expertise of the technical team
  • Obtain a strong knowledge and understanding of our organization software solutions
  • Participate on project teams
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Provide time estimates for assigned development
  • Provide support at the 3rd tier as required when referred by 1st and 2nd tier support representatives


  • 2 years experience working in a similar role
  • Expert proficiency working with APIs (REST/SOAP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Demonstrated understanding of asynchronous Javascript development
  • Solid understanding with troubleshooting rendering issues related to Web Browsers (Edge, Safari, Chrome/WebKit based, Firefox) on the Desktop
  • Solid understanding with troubleshooting rendering issues related to Web Browsers and Apps on mobile devices (Phones, Tablets)
  • Understanding of Networking
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and their servers (MariaDB, Postgres)
  • Solid understanding of document oriented databases (MongoDB)
  • Solid understanding of Authentication Processes and backends (JWT, OIDC, SAML)
  • Expert proficiency of Javascript (Angular 8) Language
  • Familiarity with other languages (PHP, Python, Go)
  • Experience with container technology (Docker)
  • Experience with Linux command line
  • Understanding of Semantic Build and Versioning Processes
  • Experience with Issue Tracking Systems (Gitlab/Github)
  • Experience with Revision Control Systems (Git)
  • Experience with some of the applications and tools we use for our daily operations (listed below)
  • Work effectively in an online team environment with other developers and IT members, as well as independently with minimal directionStrong interpersonal and communications skills including well developed verbal and written English

Mandatory requirements

If you are offered and accept this contract opportunity, you will need to:

  • Undergo a Criminal Record Check at your own expense (approximately $28).
  • Take the SelfDesign online privacy and security fundamentals courses (approximately 1 hour per course).
