We are looking for a GIS Data Analyst to support a project with a major Canadian client. The core duties will support geospatial data warehousing and analytics for massive datasets, with the analyst’s key objectives being the managed growth and development of further geospatial assets, improving QA procedures, ad-hoc analytics, documentation and communication relating to the project, and other client support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with highly skilled individuals on an impactful project. Responsibilities:

  • Digitize and geo-reference datasets, as well as locating and integrating new data assets
  • Support the design of large-scale maps as required on an ad-hoc basis
  • Run monthly processes in support of critical business initiatives
  • Support the maintenance, storage, and retrieval of data layers used as components of geospatial data
  • Ensure data standards are maintained in well-organized and searchable databases
  • Effectively integrate GIS data with other sources and platforms for analysis (e.g. Microsoft Excel, SQL)
  • Compile geographic data from a variety of sources to improve industry and market knowledge
  • Document all processes accurately and clearly for effective communication
  • Support other research functions
  • Provide general project and client support

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Management, Geographic Analysis, Geography, or a related discipline
  • 1 – 2 years professional and/or graduate level academic experience managing and analyzing GIS data
  • High proficiency in the ArcGIS suite is required
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time and workload
  • Solid communication and comprehension (including reading, writing, and oral) skills
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills and strategic-thinking capacity
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a group

Assets:

  • Proven experience using Python for GIS would be an asset
  • Experience working with SQL queries and databases is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Adobe suite is an asset
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid driver’s license would be an asset
  • French is considered an asset
