Cortes Natural Food Co-op is a community-owned cooperative business. We are passionate about bringing locally grown, organic, sustainably produced, healthy food to our community. This summer, we are looking to grow our seasonal team. This is an opportunity to participate in a fun and friendly work environment while living on a beautiful gulf island.We are currently hiring for a number of positions and are willing to train the right candidates.
1st, 2nd and Dishwasher positions, both full and part time. Our Kitchen staff takes great joy in creating abundant, healthful and nourishing meals for our island community and our seasonal tourists. We embody a strong work ethic and carry out our duties with a positive attitude at all times. We prepare a selection of popular and delicious meal offerings, cooking from scratch and using the finest organic and local ingredients. You love cooking and serving the highest quality meals. You are professional in your demeanor and embody clear and mature communication. You enjoy people and are friendly, yet stay focused on your kitchen responsibilities. You have a high level of personal hygiene, are reliable,respectful and on time. You are able to receive directions and feedback listening in a respectful manner.You are at ease w/the pressure of deadlines and manage your time, wisely. You are organized, dedicated,energetic and able to self-direct, once routines are established.
The bakery at the Co-op produces breads and pastries from scratch. Each day, we bake a selection of organic sourdough loaves and baguettes, hand-made croissants, cookies, scones, muffins, and other delicious treats. Bakers are responsible for mixing and shaping dough, baking off the daily fare, displaying products in the cafe and in the store, and communicating kindly with kitchen and front-of-house staff. We are looking for applicants who have a real passion for baking, the ability to self-motivate, and a capacity for working efficiently. Previous experience working in a kitchen or a bakery is an asset,but not necessary. Must be capable of working with gluten.
You may just be the good-natured, dedicated and enthusiastic store clerk we are looking for. We are seeking considerate team members, who are interested in natural and organic foods and products, have great people skills, and are interested in working in a lively, community oriented store. Responsibilities include cashiering, stocking, fronting, keeping the store and produce well-organized & stocked, as well as maintaining a friendly welcoming atmosphere and responding to customers questions and requests. The baristas are responsible for providing excellent customer service to customers, coworkers, and vendors; serving a consistent and quality product; maintaining a clean cafe; and processing sales quickly,accurately, and efficiently. We are looking for applicants who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and who can work well with a team. Previous experience working in a cafe environment is an asset, but not necessary.These positions are seasonal; however, the opportunity to stay on in a permanent capacity may be available to the right individuals.
