We are a high performing team responsible for leading the development, coordination and implementation of corporate and strategic communications and public engagement approaches for the Government of Yukon. We take a leadership role and collaborate with departments and Cabinet Communications to deliver high quality and timely communications to Yukoners.

The opportunity…
This position manages the development, implementation and evaluation of corporate and strategic communications for the Government of Yukon. The position fulfills a leadership role and provides advice and guidance to the Director of Communications, senior management within ECO, Cabinet Communications, and the Office of the Commissioner, and Yukon government departments to ensure government communications meets the needs of citizens and supports openness and transparency.

Essential qualifications

Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field of study
Considerable experience in communications; providing strategic advice, direction and recommendations on complex communications projects and public engagement initiatives.
Experience developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans, programs and policies.
Experience managing financial resources.
Experience leading a team; demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and manage the performance of direct reports.

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
