2019 Summer Student Communications
Spending a summer working at the Law Society of Alberta (Law Society) is an exciting way for post-secondary students to gain practical experience and exposure in public relations communications and technical writing.
The Law Society of Alberta (LSA) regulates the legal profession in the public interest. In alignment with the LSA’s vision mission and strategic plan the Communications Department provides strategic communications advice and support for reputation and issues management media and stakeholder relations employee communications and external communications including web management social media special events/programs and various publications.
Summer students should be ready to commit to working in our Calgary office for the months of May June July and August 2019.
Work with members of the Communications team to develop and deliver communications materials/tactics.
Provide day-to-day support in relation to the intranet and external website as well as the development and implementation of E-newsletters and bulletins.
Help develop and write content for various internal and external publications.
Assist with the coordination of employee events and other duties as required.
Enrolled in a post-secondary education program in public relations communications technical writing or journalism
Ability to write edit and present messages concisely clearly and effectively for diverse audiences in a variety of media.
Well-developed ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective positive relationships.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and techniques.
Strong organization skills with an emphasis on tactical delivery as directed by Communications team members.
Intranet and external website experience an asset.
