ROLE:
Our downtown Calgary head office is searching for a customer service driven, hands-on Information Technology Operations Manager to join our team. In this role, you are responsible for the operational readiness of the technology organization. You will manage incidents, problems, changes, releases, configurations, assets, and service requests, for both our corporate office and project sites. You will also balance policies and processes with organizational objectives and fiscal requirements, while maintaining our compliance and regulatory requirements. This position requires travel (10%-15%) to projects sites to mobilize, support and demobilize projects throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and participate in the planning, installing and maintaining modern IT infrastructure and integrating new technologies and platforms
  • With a customer service excellence mindset, manage the daily operational support activities of the IT Operations team
  • Architect and deploy secure, robust, reliable, scalable, performant and efficient IT infrastructure and operational systems
  • Actively seek cost effective solutions, formulate budgets and manage IT procurement
  • Follow technology trends and make recommendations on buy versus build decisions
  • Oversee and administer production platforms and the availability, integrity and confidentiality of the network, servers, storage, operational software, telecommunications services and cloud technologies
  • Identify infrastructure-related needs with business users and design and implement solutions that meet those needs
  • Develop, manage and refresh long term IT strategy
  • Identify and manage IT related risks, develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans
  • Maintain best practices and ensure the team follows standard processes and procedures
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Leadership experience managing a small operational IT team
  • 5-7 years of experience in IT operations and infrastructure deployments
  • Experience in IT infrastructure fundamentals including storage, server, networking, virtualization, cloud and cyber security
  • In-depth hands-on experience with Microsoft Enterprise solutions including on-premise and cloud hosted server environments, and Office 365 administration
  • Experience in other cloud solutions such as AWS and Microsoft Azure is an asset
  • Working knowledge of wired and wireless networking/SAN solutions, local and remote backup technologies and VOIP services
  • Experience with Cisco/Meraki networking, Microsoft Active Directory, VMWare, Skype for Business, PowerShell, SharePoint and Microsoft server environments would be considered an asset
  • Detail oriented, analytical, organized and strong work ethic
  • Self-motivated, results driven, able to work well under time constraints
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as a strong desire to learn
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
