The purpose of the Senior IT Systems Administrator is to implement and support IT systems and infrastructure, and participate in various infrastructure projects.

What’s it like working as a Senior IT Systems Administrator at Questrade?

The Senior IT Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure in heterogeneous environments with a primary focus on Linux and Windows systems. This individual will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation of the infrastructure. The individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, network and applications are aligned to corporate policies, procedures and best practices with a strong focus on documentation and high availability. ✔Responsible for the support and maintenance of Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux & CentOS 7.x) and Windows 2012 and 2016 server systems.

✔Experience with GCP and Google cloud platform

✔Deploy applications, security patches and update software packages through Satellite and SCCM

✔Troubleshoot, problem isolation, and solution implementation, proactively identify and address potential issues from both a hardware and software perspective

✔Advanced experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible and modern IT automation tools

✔Experience with Micro services: containers, OpenShift

✔Responsible for the support and maintenance of Windows Server 20xx, which includes but not limited to: Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP, GPO, replication, Clustering.

✔Support and maintenance of hardware systems including Cisco UCS Blades, VMWare ESX ,Netbackup Appliances, Hitachi NAS and SAN storage platforms

✔Support and manage G-Suite products and services.

✔Perform patch management for various systems such as Windows, ESX and Linux which includes security patches, system drivers and firmware

✔Troubleshoot, problem isolation, and solution implementation, proactively identify and address to potential issues from both a hardware and software perspective

✔Support and maintenance of various infrastructure technologies such as Veritas NetBackup, Microsoft (Exchange 20xx, Office 365 Hybrid, Skype for Business Online, Azure AD, SCCM), Google for business, Mimecast, Redhat Satellite and AirWatch/Google MDM

✔Manage system backups and offsite tape management

✔Monitoring of systems health and performance

✔Create and maintain project and procedure documentation

✔Work in shift rotation between 8am to 6pm on weekdays

✔Participate in a rotating on-call schedule which includes performing server maintenance / updates and providing technical support after hours

Are YOU our next Senior IT Systems Administrator? You are if…

✔You have 5+ years of progressive experience in Linux and Windows systems administration role

✔You have hands on experience of Cloud and/or large scale virtualization

✔You have a 3 year college diploma in the field of Computer Science, or Information Technology, or equivalent working experience. University degree preferred

✔You have experience with Exchange 20xx/Office 365 Hybrid

✔You have experience with Windows Server 2012 R2/2016

✔You have experience with VMWare ESXi 6.x and VCenter

✔You have experience in a high volume Information Technology environment

✔You have experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS)

✔You have excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy management

✔You have scripting skills: Powershell, Ansible, Bash

✔You have excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills

✔You have experience with Citrix XenAPP and XenDesktop

✔You have ability to work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities

✔You have ability to learn new skills quickly

✔You have strong attention to detail, comprehensive problem solving and troubleshooting skills

✔You have ability to multi-task and prioritize work

✔You must be able to effectively follow procedures and policies

✔You have ability to work independently or under minimum supervision

✔You have Disaster Recovery/High Availability experience would be an asset
