About the Job

Risk Management: Identification, Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting

Actively support a departmental culture of professionalism and expertise in execution of the Risk Management Framework
Provide expert support for the remediation of control deficiencies identified by Internal Audit, OSFI, ERM, Corporate Compliance or other parties
Ensure that mitigation plans are routinely reviewed and followed for all significant risks
Identify risk issues that require mitigation and ensure management has been provided effective resolution support
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders to effectively communicate on risk appetite, risk tolerance and early warning trends
Provide routine risk reports, special reviews and other reporting initiatives as required by the business
Review risk assessments for new or significantly changed initiatives through the New Initiative Risk Assessment Process (NIRAP)

Internal Controls

Diagnose the state of internal controls for the portfolio of business units, design and implement controls required to proactively comply with Company policies and satisfy COSO framework requirements
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of internal controls
Provide expertise and execute enterprise risk programs designed to mitigate specific risks (e.g., business continuity, third party and vendor management)

Fraud Prevention

Assist in design, implementation and monitoring of all specified anti-fraud controls

Required Qualifications/Experience:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in related area or discipline required (University an asset)
Additional relevant accreditation(s) or designations or certification(s) are strong assets (e.g., CA, CIA)
Min 5+ years related experience in a Risk Management or Internal Audit function within a large Canadian financial institution
Knowledge of risks inherent in a retail and commercial lending environment is highly desirable
Solution-focused and takes initiative to work effectively and efficiently within established guidelines
Strong organizational, time management, research/ analysis and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal relationship building, negotiating and listening skills to manage expectations and deliver results
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity
Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast paced, deadline-driven work environment
Comprehends and interprets legislative requirements and impact on various business lines
Consistently demonstrates and reinforces organizational values
Understands Home Trust Company’s lending criteria and culture
Solid knowledge of MS Office
Sound knowledge of OSFI requirements and guidelines
