Toronto Animal Health Partners Emergency and Specialty Hospital (AHP), is now seeking applications for highly skilled registered veterinary technicians. Roles are available in a variety of emergency and specialty areas. Successful applicants will join an exceptional team of veterinary specialists and support staff offering services in 24/7 emergency medicine, critical care, oncology, radiology and diagnostic imaging, neurology, cardiology and surgery.

The AHP mandate is to increase the quality of care for companion animals through knowledge transfer among and between human and veterinary clinicians; together improving patient outcomes, client care and professional satisfaction. We will adopt a team-based approach to offer compassionate treatment, offering novel protocols and therapeutics. An abundance of continuing education will be available on site as well as options for external CE credits.

Duties and responsibilities

  • IV catheterization and blood drawing skills
  • Preform basic lab work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced ER environment
  • Caring for ward patients
  • Ability to monitor patients during sedation procedures
  • Following treatment orders on an electronic system (instinct)
  • Work well in a team
  • Triage patients, assessing what is stable vs critical and communicating this with ER doctors.
