Summary of Responsibilities
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Prince Rupert Terminal, part of Pembina’s Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit is currently seeking a Millwright, Tradesman to join their team. The Prince Rupert Terminal is a propane export terminal on Watson Island, located about 8 km south of Prince Rupert, BC. This position will report to the Terminal Manager and will have a shift schedule of 4, 10-hour days, with 3 days off.
The Millwright, Tradesman will be a fully qualified Journeyman in the millwright and or pipefitter trades experienced in performing the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems. The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of the mechanical trades. And the role will involve planning and coordination of work for apprentices, contractors, and/or maintenance crews with activities in the field area for rail, pressurized storage and marine loading facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Having a safety conscious attitude for all day to day operations by ensuring Pembina’s Corporate Safety Standards are met;
Promoting and supporting the use of PMM (Pembina Maintenance Management);
Assisting the PMM coordinator with planning, scheduling and executing of work;
Ensuring work orders are completed properly in SAP;
Recommending improvements for facility efficiency and optimization;
Acting as a liaison between the control room and maintenance team ensuring all operational regulatory requirements are completed;
Ensuring procedures are maintained and updated regularly and that task observations are completed for the maintenance staff. Assisting in creating THA’s (Task Hazard Assessments) when required to perform safe work and develop site specific procedures;
Identifying facility safety improvements;
Reviewing, understanding and utilizing Pembina’s safety procedures/standards in performing all facets of work;
Ensuring a high standard of safety by ensuring proper procedures are followed in relation to maintenance tasks;
Continuing to upgrade knowledge by taking various related courses and in-house training for potential further advancement;
Working effectively in a team environment;
Demonstrating strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills that are aligned with Pembina’s core values;
Participating in emergency response exercises;
Performing various assignments related to health, safety and the environment in compliance with company standards and adhering to Pembina’s Safety Culture of “Zero by Choice”;
Performing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, loading/unloading lines, meters;
Have a demonstrated competency with Pembina’s Quality Management Plan, Operating and Maintenance Procedures, Management of Change process and Safety Standards;
Reading and interpreting electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and structural engineering drawings (and how to access drawings);
Understanding Pembina Engineering Specifications;
Communicating and coordinating work activities with Operations, other Trades and the Control Room;
Developing pre-commissioning plans and potentially leading the start-up of new equipment;
Planning facility turnarounds and non-routine tasks;
Maintaining applicable documentation relating to all mechanical maintenance;
Performing and/or assisting in Operational duties as required;
Performing and/or assisting in site meter proving activities;
Maintaining costs that are under their control (labor costs, material costs, training related costs, etc.); and
Understanding how the maintenance or lack of maintenance of mechanical systems can impact financial performance of the business.
8+ years related industry experience in the mechanical trades;
Journeyman Millwright and, or Pipefitter Certification’s;
Working knowledge of MS Office Applications and experience using SAP Maintenance Management is highly desirable;
Continuous dedication to on-going training and development;
Effective written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong organizational skills;
Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position;
Valid Class 5 driver's license; and
On-call availability as per district needs.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
