Rent-A-Nerd is seeking a full-time Senior Systems/IT Administrator, also known as a “Nerd”. Rent-A-Nerd was established in 1997 and has a long history of providing excellent services to clients based in the Metro Vancouver region. About the Role:
You are primarily responsible for supporting our clients, mentoring Junior Nerds, and working towards developing the skills required to become a Site Lead Nerd within 12 months. You are secondarily responsible for (and not limited to) providing solutions to our clients; developing strong relationships both internally and externally; contributing and optimizing proactive maintenance initiatives; performing in-depth technical assessments of clients networks; creating and maintaining excellent client documents; handling support escalations, and providing technical assistance and guidance to the Service Desk Team; performing upgrades to client networks; maintaining and furthering knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
What You Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, or post-secondary technical education
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Systems Administration
Holds at least one relevant industry certification(s) (i.e.: MCSE is a must-have)
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills
Strong planning and organizing skills
Exceptional client services skills
Experience with the Microsoft stack of technologies
Experience with business continuity & disaster recovery solutions
Experience in networking including routing, VPN’s, VLAN’s and security
Ability to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members with the ability to work at times with minimal supervision
Effective time management skills and ability to set priorities and deadlines
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under stress
Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend work when necessary
Nice to Have:
Previous experience with a Managed Services Provider
Knowledge of integrating Mac into a Windows environment
