Are you interested in working outside traditional library settings to help Edmonton Public Library spread the words? EPL is looking for a fun, agile customer service expert to join our epl2go team!
Epl2go is an exciting initiative combining aspects of early literacy (e.g. storytimes, puppet shows, and other early literacy programs) as well as digital literacy (e.g. programs including iPads, MacBooks, gaming, sound and video recording, Makey Makey, Lego Mindstorms etc). Epl2go is a way of taking library programs into the community, providing hands-on opportunities for customers of all ages to learn, create, play, collaborate and discover.

What we're looking for:
At EPL our mission is simple:
we share! Our Library Assistants are versatile and friendly people who want to make a difference in the community. They deliver programs to people of all ages. They are our customer service ambassadors connecting people to the resources and services they need. They are active in the community and visit schools, daycares and other organizations. They are tech-savvy, creative, curious and eager to share what they know with others.
An Information Management/Library Technology diploma or a directly related diploma with significant course content focused on education or community work, or an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
A minimum of one year's work experience in a library or an environment where customer service is a core focus.
Valid Alberta Operator's License.
Experience operating a large vehicle such as a van or truck is an asset. A minimum of two years of driving experience is preferred.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs and internet applications.
Experience with a wide variety of creative technologies is preferred.
Experience in developing and presenting programs for customers of all ages is required; a particular emphasis on programming for young children is preferred.
Experience in providing reference services and readers' advisory services is preferred.

Ability and knowledge to instruct customers in the use of information resources (print and electronic) and in the use of public web station applications.
Proficiency with technology including PC’s, Microsoft Office applications, mobile devices, e-readers and social software.
The ability to operate a van and regularly perform a variety of physical tasks in order to load and unload the vehicle.
This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts.
Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a Driver Abstract.

$28.77 - $36.73 per hour*
- Approximately $52,579 - $67,105 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.
Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.
