ABOUT OUR OPERATION
Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 is anticipated to be the last year of the Meadowbank mine production and it is now transitioning to process the satellite deposit Amaruq for August 2019.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, the Driller is part of the Mine Department and collaborates with other departments of the division. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Produce production holes with a DTH drill;
Sampling of hole cutting according to the procedure and standards established;
Produce reports inherent to the function;
Move and install the drills following the drill layouts and patterns;
Drill the holes according to the engineering drawings and specifications;
Proceed with daily equipment inspections, as well as inspecting your work environment;
Ensure the health and safety of you and your team members during work.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
High School diploma;
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a production driller;
Experience on DML & Sandvik DI650i drills;
Experience with drill automation is an asset;
Experience in the mining industry considered an asset;
Demonstrated interest in drilling operations and capability to be trained and learn the drills operations;
Ability to work in a production environment in order for the production requirements to be achieved;
Ability to drill in different rock types and apply drilling techniques that allow drilling in wet ground, use of casing, etc.;
Mining Engineering Plan reading skills;
Possess the physical requirements necessary to perform the work;
Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Selected candidates may be required to attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
